This past weekend, fighters from across the Midwest traveled to Huntley, IL for the first WAKO USA Training Camp of 2014 which was held at Z’s Martial Arts. The camp was taught by Team USA Coaches Chris Cichon and Joe Worden. Both coaches have been a part of Team USA for several international events and both coaches have trained elite level athletes for events with WAKO, UFC, Bellator, and many more.

The camp started off as Coach Chris and Coach Joe took fighters through several striking drills and taught basic techniques for attacking, defending, and counter-attacking. The camp then moved on to pad work drills and finished up with some intense sparring training.

Many of the camp participants are currently preparing to compete at the 2014 WAKO North American Tournament at the end of May and this training camp was a great way to step up their training.

While the fighters were training, WAKO Pan-American Director of Offials, Tim Mazurkiewicz, held a officiating seminar and certified officials for WAKO events held here in the U.S. These new officials also got to put their skills to practice as they helped officiate the sparring training during the camp.

Thank you to all the WAKO USA members who attended and we look forward to seeing you all at the next one!
