Team USA’s Antonio Dvorak Wins at Lion Fight in Las Vegas

Team USA Kickboxing’s Antonio Dvorak got a call on Wednesday March 26 that he couldn’t say “no” to.

Team USA Kickboxing’s Antonio Dvorak got a call on Wednesday March 26 that he couldn’t say “no” to. He was asked to fight in a heavyweight Muay Thai fight against Manny Mancha (7-1) in Las Vegas, NV on the under-card of Lion Fight 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. He had only 48 hrs notice, but he and trainer Chris Cichon packed their bags and left the following morning for Vegas and the official weigh-ins.

The pair from The Cellar Gym in Minneapolis, MN both represented Team USA in October of 2013 at the WAKO World Championships in Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil. Cichon fought in the 75kg low kick division and Dvorak in the +91kg K1 division.

At Lion Fight, Dvorak started off patiently and both fighters tested each other with kicks while looking to control the ring, but Antonio pushed the action to the ropes and landed some huge knees on the inside. As both fighters pummeled for position Antonio landed a mixture of uppercuts and body punches looking to slow down his opponent. After landing a big shot to the body that brought Manny Mancha’s head forward, Antonio threw a vicious uppercut that cut the eye open of Mancha. The round ended and the referee and fight doctor called the fight off due to the cut.

Antonio Dvorak picked up the win via TKO and improves to 5-1. It was a great night of fights and WAKO USA fighters continue to grab the attention of U.S. promoters. Dvorak is next scheduled to travel to San Diego, CA for a training camp with UFC’s Brandon Vera and Bellator’s Raphael Butler at Alliance MMA.
