Fighting:

  • Semi-contact (point)
  • Light-contact (continuous)

  • Low kick
  • Thai Kickboxing

Musical Forms:

  • Extreme Musical Forms (empty hands)
    • Soft
    • Hard
  • Extreme Musical Weapons
    • Soft
    • Hard
  • Aero-Kickboxing (individual)
  • Aero-Kickboxing (team)

Fighting divisions are also available for professionals through WAKO-Pro.


The WAKO representatives in the United States are Don Rodriguez, Calvin Thomas, Tom Fest and Dawn Roffey.

WAKO World Championships are held every two years, with youth (18 and under) and adults (18-45) on separate years.

The last junior competition was held in Croatia in 2006.  The US brought home 3 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 5 Bronze Medals.  The last adult World Championship was held in Coimbra, Portugal in 2007. The US brought home 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.
